So here's the first leg of the driving portion of the trip...829 miles. 11 hours and 28 minutes. One bathroom stop in Utah. That's all you get. We can just find an Applebee's or Chili's for dinner when we get to Boise.
Let's just make a list of chain restaurants that we have here in Williamsburg / York Co / Newport News and stop at those along the way.
Or we could make a list of chain places we don't have here and just stop at those. Chipotle, Q'doba, Jamba Juice, Einstein Bros. Bagels, that sort of thing.
That's the point of this trip, right? To see the same things we've seen elsewhere, just in a different place?
2. the town called George, Washington (well, we saw the sign for it, but we didn't stop because the flat tire on Mount Rainier kind of changed the timing of our day. When we passed George, our main goal was just trying to get to Coeur D'Alene where our hotel was for that night)
3. potatoes (in Idaho, of course) (Jamie had regular french fries and Holly had sweet potato fries in Boise, ID. done!)
4. the aquarium on the Oregon coast (done!)
5. what kind of mental state Jamie will be in when she turns 30 on the trip (excited about the birthday pancake, bummed that it was raining and we couldn't play disc golf on a mountain, fascinated by America's Got Talent, frustrated that Holly beat her at shuffleboard and bananagrams, happy with our pints of Ben and Jerry's ice cream)
6. if Holly can train for a marathon (um, so far she has gone for one run. She might be following the Jimmy D school of marathon training)
7. how many different Jamba Juices we can stop at (so far just one, but we did get them for half price. Two now, but we had to pay full price. Both times in Idaho. But then we racked them up in Colorado and at the Charlotte airport bringing our total to 5)
8. the Experience Music Project (done!)
9. if we can go the entire trip without eating "fast food" (none the entire time!)
10. SEALS! (done!) (except that they were sea lions)
11. Lighthouses along the Oregon coast (done!)
12. how long we can go without showering? maybe not (showers every day, sometimes twice a day)
13. really big sky and really fluffy clouds (we're in Big Sky Country now, so done!)
14. how many people love us by the number of CDs we get back (lots! thank you so much!!!)
15. 4th of July fireworks in Seattle (mission: accomplished)
16. whether we prefer sleeping in a yurt, a cabin, or a teepee (I think the yurt is winning over the cabin right now--check a blog post for the real answer)
17. how far we can throw a disc golf disc on a mountain (nope...it was raining and about 45 degrees out, but we played at a park in Boulder and had fun)
18. what Portland looks like while riding around on a bike (no bike, but we loved Portland!)
ummm, one bathroom stop??
ReplyDeleteOh great, I figured this whole trip we will just try and eat at as many Applebees that we can find. My mom would be so proud.

Okay, okay. You can have one bathroom stop per state, so that's four.
